Project Description
Objective: To improve the health, safety, and caregiving conditions of 50 families of children and adults with Cerebral Palsy by providing induction stoves and necessary cooking utensils.
Beneficiaries: 50 families members of the Self-Help Group for Cerebral Palsy, Kavre
Area of Focus: Maternal and Child Health/ Disease and Prevention
Current Challenges:
- Families of children and adults with Cerebral Palsy often rely on traditional cooking methods such as firewood or kerosene.
- Exposure to indoor smoke causes respiratory illnesses.
- Exposure to indoor smoke causes eye irritation.
- Higher risk of accidents due to traditional cooking methods.
- Caregivers spend considerable time cooking, reducing their capacity to care for their child effectively.
Justification for Implementing the Project:
- Indoor air pollution from traditional cooking significantly impacts the health of both caregivers and children with Cerebral Palsy.
- Many families lack access to clean and safe cooking methods, which can reduce their quality of life.
- Providing induction stoves will create a safer environment, minimize health risks, and save caregivers time.
- The intervention promotes sustainable and energy
-efficient cooking practices.
- This project aligns with Rotary’s focus on Maternal and Child Health and contributes to overall community well-being.
