Project Description
The Rotary Club of Dillibazar, in collaboration with Bal Bikash Samaj, has provided seed funding
to four women’s groups as part of its ongoing self-employment and skill development initiative
aimed at empowering underprivileged and marginalized women. After completing a year of
vocational and income-generating training, each group received NPR 80,000, bringing the total
support to NPR 320,000.
At a distribution program held in Bhimtar of Indrawati Rural Municipality, Sindhupalchok, seed
money was handed over to the Junkeri Women’s Group and Pragati Women’s Group in the
presence of Rural Municipality Chairperson Jhamka Nepal as chief guest. The event was
attended by Vice-Chairperson Shobhana Tamang, Rotary Club President Prem Oli, past
president Indira Parajuli, Rotarian Bishnu Parajuli, school principals, and local social workers.
Similarly, in Pipaltar, Kavre, Kamalko Phool Women’s Group and Sunakhari Women’s Group
also received NPR 80,000 each at a separate program attended by chief guest Mahesh Kharel
and Education Department Chief Uday Koirala. Organizers said the funds will be collectively
invested in small businesses and income-generating activities.
Participants in the program highlighted that the initiative has strengthened financial discipline,
teamwork, and confidence among women. Many have begun collective farming of crops such
as potatoes, ginger, and mustard. They also shared that the program has improved literacy,
encouraged savings habits, and increased awareness regarding their children’s education.
The project, supported by Rotary Club of Mitcham and Rotary Club of Dillibazar, with
implementation by Bal Bikash Samaj, aims to promote long-term economic self-reliance and
social transformation in rural communities.
